Luxury homes in Chicago? There’s still plenty of them

Looking for a luxury home in the Chicago area? The good news is that there are plenty of options. The bad news — and this isn’t surprising considering we’re talking luxury here — is that buying any of these homes will cost you plenty.

Fox Business recently took a look at some of the priciest current home listings in the Chicago area. It’s an interesting peek at the world of local luxury real estate.

Fox, for instance, highlights a 7,800-square-foot home in Lakeview that is listed for $3.399 million. That price brings five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two additional half-bathrooms, just in case. Then there’s the $4.3 million listing of a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home just a few blocks from the Lincoln Park Zoo. The home comes with 4,300 square feet of living space and a view of Lake Michigan.

The story also featured a home in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood that is listed for $4.495 million. This home comes with six bedrooms, five bathrooms and a half-bathroom. The home comes with solar and geothermal technology and was recently gut-renovated.

These stories are fun to read. But very few buyers are actually interested in purchasing homes that cost $3 million or up. Fortunately, there are plenty of other options in the Chicago housing market for buyers in all price ranges.

There is also a neighborhood that’s right for every buyer. Chicago truly is a city of neighborhoods. This means that there are neighborhoods perfect for empty nesters, young people and couples with children. And you’ll find a wide range of different housing types and price points in each of these neighborhoods.

The key to finding the right condo or single-family home in Chicago – whether you want to spend $2 million or $200,000 – is to work with a REALTOR® who knows the neighborhoods you’re targeting. This professional can help you find fairly priced homes and can guide you through the negotiation process with sellers.
