Centered around the public square that serves its namesake, Logan Square is a buzzing urban neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side. A Brief History
Logan Square officially became annexed as a Chicago neighborhood in 1889 and was named after General John A. Logan, an American political leader and soldier. The majority of the community’s early residents included a diverse mixture of Scandinavia immigrants along with significant Polish and Jewish populations. Milwaukee Ave, one of the oldest roads in the area, divides the community in two and, along with its public square, has historically acted as a major commercial and cultural hub thanks to the Blue Line that runs along the avenue.

Today, Logan Square continues to house a diverse population, which now includes a large Latino community. The thriving neighborhood has become a favorite among both Chicagoans and tourists looking to visit any of the many acclaimed restaurants and boutiques that fill the area. Locations like Lula Café and The Freeze have been staples of the neighborhood for decades, while Superkhana International and Sugar Moon Bakery exemplify the transformation the community has recently undergone.
In the summer months, residents love to take advantage of the many green spaces the area offers. The 606 Trail flanks the bottom of the neighborhood and provides nearly 3 miles of landscaped walkway that sits above the city. Another favorite stop in the summer is the Logan Square Farmers Market, which resides near Milwaukee Ave and Logan Boulevard and usually runs from mid-May through October.

Since the neighborhood is approximately six miles from downtown and is surrounded by other thriving communities like Humboldt Park and Avondale, it is an exceptional location for anyone looking to move to Chicago’s Northwest Side.
