MG Group Spotlight: Jay Elsberry
Third-generation entrepreneur Jay Elsberry has always pushed the boundaries of possibility since his childhood. A true chameleon in the real estate field, Jay has found a way to adapt to any situation facing him due to his invaluable experience and problem-solving skills. Get to know Jay a little more in our newest team member spotlight:
How did you get involved in the real estate business?
I initially got into real estate on the development side; mostly single family home renovations. Along the way, I got my real estate license for the logistic benefits. After helping a few close friends buy & sell, I realized that I enjoyed being client-facing and dove in full time.
How long have you been at MG Group? What have you learned from your time at MG?
I’ve been with the group for just under 2 years now, but the environment is so fast-paced that it feels like I’ve gained 10 years of experience in that time. I’ve seen first-hand what it takes (e.g., high levels of organization, service, and market knowledge) to be a top producing agent year in & year out.
What keeps you passionate about what you do?
I’m passionate about real estate, but the client relationships are what really keep me going. I love getting to know buyers & sellers, helping them solve problems along the way, and seeing them happy at the end of the process.
How does MG Group stand out from other teams, in the Chicago area or even nationwide?
I believe the level of service we offer is second to none. From our initial meeting through closing, we have a full team of people working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transaction. Buying or selling a home can be stressful, but our team is there every step of the way to guide & assist our clients so they can actually enjoy the process knowing that everything is taken care of.
What accomplishments are you most proud of with MG Group?
The growth of my personal business since joining the MG Group has actually exceeded my expectations. However, I am most proud of the service my clients have received. Having such a great team around me has allowed me to focus on my strengths & growing my business while my clients get to experience the most seamless buying or selling process.
What trends are you seeing in the Chicago residential market that are most interesting these days, or in looking forward to 2022
At the end of 2020 & beginning of 2021 we saw a big push from buyers to prioritize square footage & private outdoor space which led them out of the heart of the city. This makes sense since shared building amenities were closed or limited, activities like going out to eat, catching a ball game, or going to a concert were no longer an option, and a short commute was no longer a priority with so many people working from home. We’re starting to see the high rise market wake back up with buyers getting called back to the office; however, there is still a lot of stagnant inventory to work through. As we continue through to the end of the year and into 2022, I expect the Chicago market as a whole to level out to a point that downtown sellers are able to move their properties for a fair price and buyers that have been competing with multiple offers for the past 12 months in low to mid-rise buildings will finally see a return to normalcy – something we’re already seeing today.
