MG Group Spotlight: Peter Xantheas
For the past seven years, Peter Xantheas has been an irreplaceable member of our team. Peter lends his experience in education to ensure his clients are well-informed and supported in their journey. In our latest team member spotlight, Peter reflects on his award-winning career in the Chicago real estate industry.
How did you get involved in the real estate business?
I was a high school social studies teacher in Chicago for several years and when my position closed due to shrinking enrollment I decided to change careers and make the jump into real estate. That was almost 15 years ago. I have always felt that there is an educational component to what I do and I believe my educational experience suits me well during those instances.
How long have you been at MG Group?
I joined MG Group in December 2013 so I have been with the team for seven full years.
What keeps you passionate about what you do?
I genuinely like people and get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I am helping people move on to the next phase in their lives, whether that phase involves buying a new home, selling an existing home, or both.
How does MG Group stand out from other teams, in the Chicago area or even nationwide?
I think we’re a great team for several reasons: We are service-oriented and it’s important to every member of the team to always give the highest level of customer service. We aren’t just going to help you buy or sell a home; we will guide you throughout the entire buying/selling process. We will even be there after the sale should any real estate-related concern arise. Each person on the team has such unique and varied skills, and with those skills comes a lot of knowledge. That makes us very well-rounded and I think that that’s important. Finally, there is a very strong sense of collegiality amongst all of us. We don’t compete against one another on our team but instead work alongside one another, helping each other out, educating one another and celebrating each other’s successes.
What accomplishments are you most proud of with MG Group?
Twice I was awarded the Five Star Customer Service Award. I was nominated by past buyers and sellers and by my real estate industry peers for providing excellent customer service. Less than five percent of all agents are ever awarded this honor once in their career and less than two percent are awarded it twice, so I am very proud to be a two-time winner.
What trends are you seeing in the Chicago residential market that are most interesting these days?
I think a lot of sellers have really upped their game these last few years. The overwhelming majority of properties that are hitting the market for sale are show worthy and looking their best; if the homes aren’t staged, they are significantly decluttered. That wasn’t the case so much a few years ago. I am also seeing a lot more contemporary and clean line designs.
We’re incredibly proud of our group of dedicated, passionate people. Stay tuned for more team member spotlights on the Home. Made.™ Blog.
