MG Group Spotlight: Cyrus Seraj
For the last five years, Cyrus Seraj, one of our Senior Sales Consultants, has brought his life-long passions for real estate to the MG Group. His team-centric attitude and detailed approach to each transaction have been invaluable to our Group, and today he reflects back on his time at MG:
How did you get involved in the real estate business?
My father owned a handful of rental properties growing up and took me along when managing/renovating them starting around the age of five. It might sound cliché, but home is where the heart is and I saw him as a hero for caring enough to improve those homes for the families that lived there.
How long have you been at MG Group? What have you learned from your time at MG?
This month marks my 5 year anniversary with the Group. I spent 12 years as an independent broker before joining the Group, and the difference is so dramatic that it feels like a career change. To evolve from an ‘every broker for themselves’ mentality and seeing my peers as competitors and adversaries, to an environment of collaboration and support amongst peers, has made all the difference in the quality of representation and level of service I now bring to the clients I work with.
What keeps you passionate about what you do?
Waking up each day with different tasks, new challenges and new opportunities to learn are what keep me engaged, but creating meaningful long-term relationships with clients and earning their trust keeps me passionate.
How does MG Group stand out from other teams, in the Chicago area or even nationwide?
Every team increases some element of service over the solo agents, but I’m not aware of any that take it to the level we do. Picture going in for your annual physical and being met and checked out by eight specialists as opposed to one general practitioner. Your experience is truly comprehensive and you will leave feeling confident that you were well taken care of and no detail was missed.
What accomplishments are you most proud of with MG Group?
While I’m very proud that my average production has increased almost three-fold with the Group vs on my own, that’s due in part to the benefits of working as a team. I’m also proud of how quickly my knowledge has grown from the collaboration between teammates, and that I can help facilitate as a mentor to the less experienced agents on the team. What I’m most proud of is the level of praise I receive from my career-long clients, who have experienced my service both independently and now as a member of the Group. Their greater respect and appreciation of me is a constant reminder that I made the right decision joining the MG Group.
What trends are you seeing in the Chicago residential market that are most interesting these days, or in looking forward to 2022?
The market dynamics are always interesting, and rather unprecedented over the past 12 months. We’ve witnessed an incredible trend away from high density/condo living and towards the single family home model during the pandemic. As we approach the light at the end of this tunnel, l anticipate some balancing back towards the middle (and we are seeing preliminary signals to this effect), but do believe there will be a sustained increase in single family home demand as certain priorities like outdoor and flexible workspace are likely to remain more permanent.
We’re incredibly proud of our team of dedicated, passionate people. Stay tuned for more team member spotlights on the Home. Made.™ Blog.
