Neighborhood Spotlight: Lincoln Park

Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood

Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood

One of Chicago’s most picturesque neighborhoods, Lincoln Park is well-known for its spectacular views of the skyline and Lake Michigan, its green space and its charming atmosphere. So what exactly do you need to know if you want to make Lincoln Park home? Today, we explore this iconic Chicago neighborhood:

The History

After the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, buildings, homes and structures in the Lincoln Park area were destroyed, like most others in the city. Residents rebuilt quickly, and over the next few decades, the neighborhood filled up with businesses and residences. By the early twentieth century, Lincoln Park was firmly established as a residential neighborhood that housed cultural institutions and attractions, including a Park, a Zoo, and a University. Since then, Lincoln Park has grown into one of Chicago’s most in-demand neighborhoods, adorned with spectacular architecture, unique storefronts and beloved spots along the lake.

What to Explore

The neighborhood’s namesake might be one of its main attractions, but Lincoln Park offers an incredible collection of other green spaces to enjoy throughout the year. The Conservatory or Nature Museum make for a fantastic afternoon, and of course, there’s always the Lakefront Trail. If you’re looking for indoor cultural institutions, check out the Chicago History Museum, the DePaul Art Museum or The Second City, Chicago’s famous comedy club. And a trip to Lincoln Park wouldn’t be complete without dinner and a drink (or two). Grab a pastry from Floriole, try some tapas from Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! or spend a night out at Michelin-starred Alinea

What to Consider as a Resident

Though it has historic roots, Lincoln Park has a wide range of housing options, from contemporary, luxury condominiums, to rennovated single-family homes. High-rises along the lakefront offer stunning views, or historic brownstones offer more intimate curb appeal. For those commuting downtown, the CTA and bus lines make transportation a breeze. And of course, the lifestyle is a big attraction for both long-term residents and renters. Regardless of where you look in the neighborhood, the homes, condos and apartments in Lincoln Park are sure to impress.
