The History

After the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, buildings, homes and structures in the Lincoln Park area were destroyed, like most others in the city. Residents rebuilt quickly, and over the next few decades, the neighborhood filled up with businesses and residences. By the early twentieth century, Lincoln Park was firmly established as a residential neighborhood that housed cultural institutions and attractions, including a Park, a Zoo, and a University. Since then, Lincoln Park has grown into one of Chicago’s most in-demand neighborhoods, adorned with spectacular architecture, unique storefronts and beloved spots along the lake. 

What to Explore

The neighborhood’s namesake might be one of its main attractions, but Lincoln Park offers an incredible collection of other green spaces to enjoy throughout the year.
