How to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Chicago
There’s nothing like summer in Chicago, and Fourth of July is a great time to enjoy the city in all its festive glory. Here are a few ways to explore the city on the upcoming holiday weekend:
Catch a Fireworks Show
There’s nothing like seeing fireworks against the city skyline or reflected in the lake, and this year, there are plenty of shows happening in the city and the suburbs. Navy Pier hosts fireworks spectacles Wednesday and Saturday nights from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but heading further north or south of the city might give you better views of the skyline. Time Out has a running list of shows, including shows in the suburbs.
Spend Time on the Lake
On a hot weekend, expect Chicago’s many beaches to be packed with people. You can soak up the sun on one of Chicago’s best beaches, or you can get creative with how you explore Lake Michigan. The Lakefront Trail is a perfect way to get some miles of exercise on your way to the waterfront. To actually get on the water, you can rent a kayak — or even better — your own boat.
Dine at a Patio
Whatever culinary fare you’re in the mood for, Chicago has it. Time Out Chicago has a roundup of some of the best patios in Chicago, including 90 Miles Cuban Café’s Cubanos, Big Star’s tacos, Parlor Pizza Bar’s pies and more. If you’re looking to celebrate with a round of drinks, their list of Chicago’s best beer gardens will hit the spot. Need a place to take your furry friend while you dine? We have plenty of options for pet-friendly dining, too.
We love how our city comes alive to celebrate during the summertime, especially after a difficult year. From everyone at MG Group, we hope you have a wonderful, safe holiday weekend!
